MAC Partners with Jean-Michel Basquiat

MAC announced an all-new partnership with Jean-Michel Basquiat. The new collection transforms makeup into a creative medium, channeling Basquiat’s fearless approach to self-expression through an entirely new lineup designed for artistry, experimentation, and play.

With Jean-Michel Basquiat’s influence dominating the cultural conversation once again, and an upcoming Netflix documentary exploring his life and legacy, MAC is celebrating one of history’s most influential NYC artists with a collaboration that captures the spirit of his work rather than simply borrowing from it.

Created in close partnership with the Basquiat Estate, the collaboration goes beyond artwork-inspired packaging to deliver a true artist’s toolkit, inviting consumers to approach their face as a canvas, not just another step in their beauty routine. 

Products include the debut of Oil Effect Eye Paint, a liquid eye shadow with a smudgy, paint-like finish; Pastel Painting Eye + Face Chalk, a buildable chalk-inspired formula that blurs the line between makeup and fine art; brushes designed to mimic his actual brushes; and more MAC essentials designed with professional artistry in mind. 

All of the products are made in never-before-seen MAC formats and designed to be mixed mediums to create your own paintable shades.

Collection Highlights:

MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo-ster (bright vivid blue red) and Bowery Brown (neutral beige), delivering 12 hours of full-coverage, pigment-rich color with eight hours of moisture.
